On the flip side of that, if I want to stop way down for, say, a landscape picture where I want a larger depth of field...then I have to be even more sure of adequate light since when you stop way down, you have less light coming in (larger f-stop/aperture = smaller hole/less light). Hope that makes sense? In the latter case, you could also increase ISO to compensate for less light. And of course, tripods are nice for low light situations and for macro/micro bc of shake.

Cool, thanks for posting the links - bc there was a video in the link where I could see the camera in someone's hands, giving me size perspective. LOVING the size. I'm all about less bulk.

As far as filters, I keep a UV lens on all lenses at all times, mainly for protection, like you. I also have some fun filters for the heck of it (ie polarizing, colored, or whatnot), but honestly I almost never, ever use them to be honest. Some fun filters are super cheap though, so they can be fun to just play w/ a bit.

Great pics! Looks like you're having some fun . Can't believe Uni and Toto aren't blurry at all - great motion capture.
I'm still learning the terms. And I'm reading some of the terms are used interchangably. Like I remember what aperature is but when someone else say f stop I gotta be like, wait, what? LOL

Yeah I love the size. Plus I've got tiny kid hands so all the buttons are right there and it's not so heavy I get hand fatigue.

I wanted to hear what you thought about filters bc with the computer, why would you really need one? Although, I did see on a photography show on PBS that this guy had a filter but it was like a slide instead of circle/screw on type and only half of it had tint. He used it to darken the sky bc the landscape he was trying to photograph was dark but the sky was already bright.

Now off to shop for a tripod. I used my little Gorilla pod from my point and shoot and it totally buckled under the weight of the NEX haha. I tried to fold it down on itself and it so did not work.
