Even in the Bible dogs were looked on as unclean, seemed to be treated more like livestock- seems to be an ancient cultural more and even religious position of the Middle Eastern countries that is changing more and more as the world grows smaller and dogs became even more domesticated, recognized as sentient, caring beings, kept clean, disease-free and moved from the barnyard into the home, apartments, penthouses! Seems like the further West you go, the more dogs are a part of life and a part of the family and a chunk of your heart!
Maybe in parts of the other country where fundamentalism is practiced dog-shunning is acceptable but not here! Uh-uh. America is the land of the free, home of the brave and we don't mind standing up to anybody trying to change anything about sharing our lives with America's best little "citizens". And we're free from people coming here and imposing their beliefs, rules and mores on ours. Don't like dogs - too bad. America is sold on dogs and always will be. Too many of us live alone with only a dog for a constant companion and family - and would never stand for that right to have a family member taken from us.
Besides, anyone who doesn't get dogs is seriously lacking some of the best life has to offer so I can only hope they "evolve" in that area and maybe it's time they were drug kicking and screaming into the 21st century! But, loll - you'll take my Tibbe from me over my cold, dead body but he'd bite you first for trying to part us! And being a Yorkie, he feels he's got just as big a say in the matter as a human !
