That food is for OVERWEIGHT dogs! It is light in calories because it is fed to ADULT dogs that need to lose weight! It is NOT for puppies. I don't know if the breeder was trying to keep the weight down on the puppy so she could advertise them as teacup or what she was doing. But there really isn't such a thing as a teacup yorkie; they are just smaller yorkies. At least you couldn't find the Purina Light and Healthy food so your puppy isn't on it any longer which I think is probably a good thing.
Oh wow! I just looked up the food that's completely irresponsible of the breeder to feed a low calorie/fat food to a growing puppy. Yours and any other puppy need calories to aid in growth and development. Gaining weight is good for a puppy and he has no business being on that Purina formula. I'm glad you're changing the food. I pretty much guarantee after you change his food and let him eat when he's hungry you'll see a major change in his weight and his appearance(glossier coat, shinier eyes, etc). By him eating more you'll also be able to avoid potential hypoglycemia.
