Second, I bought her some Nutri-Cal. I was wondering how often and when the best times to give it to her are.
Third, she doesn't seem to eat or drink a lot. I give her fresh water and we feed her Natural Balance Small Breed Bites Potato and Duck Formula. What is best to feed her, and how can I make sure she doesn't go through hypoglycemia.
Last, I think she is teething cause she is biting everything! So I got her a kong, and also a rope toy that we put water on the ends of and put in the freezer for her to chew on. Is there anything else I should be doing for her? |
Hi and CONGRATS on your new baby

!!! How exciting.
Some dogs are still when they poo, others are major travelers. I have a couple of travelers too. Nothing to worry about.
I like to give Nutrical a few times a day to a new puppy when in a new home...ie, right when they wake, maybe btwn meals, and before bed. I usually did that for 1-2 weeks until I felt firm they were having even sugar levels.
Young puppies eat very tiny amounts of food and water, it can be surprising for sure. Is the food you're feeding what the breeder was feeding? I would absolutely feed what the breeder was feeding for at least 2-3 weeks - - and only then switch if you want to. The food you have is a nice food.
To prevent hypogly...you could free feed...is that what you're doing?
Young pups are ALL mouth, at first....everyyyyything goes in their mouth and they want to bite, nibble, mouth it -- totally normal. Try a kong, different chews (edible and non-edible)...just make sure she is never left alone w/ an edible chew (choking hazard issues).
