Even the Dog Food Advisor, who is not a veterinary nutritionist, by the way, says that corn is not inherently a bad ingredient in dog food. He considers it a filler, but not a poison. From

That said, I wouldn't feed a dog food that has corn as its first ingredient, because I want my dog to have a food with quality protein sources that contain all of the amino acids that she needs. But corn isn't inherently toxic or poisonous.
