I'm so sorry that you're going through so much and all at once. From an outsider point of view, I would ask the vet if they consider Hanna to be in pain and what they recommend for treatment and consider the prognosis to be following all of your questions below...
Hopefully then you can remove the passing of your MIL and your niece from the equation so that you know you are doing the right thing for Hanna..
