First heat, swollen nipples, false pregnancy, when to spay? Our Yorkie started her first heat about a week before her 1 year old birthday. She was spotting, had a very swollen vulva, etc. She started bleeding May 9th. She stooped around May 22nd (2weeks). It is now June 3rd and her vulva swelling has reduced slightly, however, the area around her nipples are hard and swollen (the size of quarters). It has only been 5-7 days after her 21 day cycle. Is this normal? Is she experiencing a false pregnancy? Will a vet be able to run tests to prove a false pregnancy? How Soon after this first heat can we get her spayed? And, if it is a false pregnancy, is it okay to spay during that time?
I've seen multiple similar posts but all suggest the possibility of being pregnant with no final conclusion on whether it was actual false, true, or normal in the end. |
