If it comes back positive for shunt, she will have an appointment to go next week for surgery. Not a cheap alternative, but it will be her best bet for a normal life.

For anyone else going through this, the vet did say that the effects can be mitigated somewhat by feeding small portions more often. It turns out that the worst of the effects, the wandering and spacing out, happens because the body is struggling to process too much protein at one time. |
