OP, I'd like to add that my pup is on a completely different food(Primal) than what I originally had her on(Fromm/Stella & Chewy)which is why she gobbles it down so fast. Even if I left Fromm down for her all day she will only graze and wait for the Primal. I like schedules and predictability( I have other dogs, a husband, and a child; I need predictability where I can get it ) so if you're like that you may want to put her on a schedule. If it's easier for you to free feed, do it. Personally, once she gets her weight stable I'd give scheduled feeding a trial run. |
I just know I'm thirsty between 6pm and bedtime and I'm sure a dog is too but they can't say it. They say most dogs don't drink enough water these days and especially with it being summer. My dog was 100% potty trained by 8 months and I only took water away at bed time. As an adult she has accesses to water all of the time and has not had an accident in many years. I don't think doing something just because it makes things easier for the humans means it's good or even right to do to dogs.
