Let us know what the vet says, but 6 years is not too old to have surgery. With my Bella, her LP was so bad that she would not put the affected leg down at all. The vet said that without surgery, arthritis would set in within one or two years. I'm glad I had the surgery done. Yours may not be as severe, but that's up to a specialist to determine.
