There are many threads on weaning already in this section. You can learn much by reading through some of them. My preferred method is to grind up some dry puppy food until it is a real fine meal. I place a small bowl of this in the pen with the pups once they are up and walking around, usually around 3 1/2 to 4 weeks of age. I also place a small, shallow bowl of water in their pen. You can also make a gruel using the ground up puppy food and some puppy formula or some canned puppy food. I usually leave the dry food out plus I give them some moist food a few times a day.

Weaning is a slow process so don't expect much at first, especially if your momma has lots of milk and is feeding her baby often.
