I had to teach mine that the only thing I get up for is the alarm clock.
I had to begin by setting the alarm clock maybe 5 minutes later than they would wake me up (that was 5:35 in this house

) if they bothered me during those 5 minutes before the alarm rang, I totally ignored them. Didn't open my eyes or talk to them..... Just pretended to sleep. Did this each day without fail.
I gradually moved the alarm back by 10 minutes every few days and then eventually began moving it in larger increments on the weekends for when I wanted to sleep a bit longer.
They learned fairly quickly that I only got up for the alarm. Now I can get up and go potty and go back to bed because they know it's not time to get up yet. The alarm clock has become their "breakfast bell"
