Atopica isn't a steroid at all, not even remotely similar. It's a little miracle drug, like Apoquel. Similar to Apoquel's mode of action, Atopica works directly w/ immunity cells. For my Marcel, Atopica has been a miracle! He's been on it for about 5 yrs now.
