If you catch him in the act, correct him. Not angrily, but with a firm voice. Then take him outside or to the pad.

He never goes outside unless we are on trips or take him on walks. He uses a litter box and we have a pad around that. Sometimes he is lazy and only walks in the box 1/2 way. I didnt actually catch him but when I got home one day there was a spot around the coffee leg and I cleaned it up then left the room when I came back the spot was there again... So I then corrected him and put him in his area.
