I agree with this statement. I think they do need some time alone - but I also know that some just really put up a fuss when they are alone, no matter what.
When Rowdy was a baby, he slept in a crate at night. I got up early each morning, fed him, took him out, and then put him in an x-pen in the den by himself where he stayed till my (retired and sick) hubby got up about 9:00-10:00am and let him out for the rest of the day. I don't know if this had anything to do with it or not, but now Rowdy is just fine staying by himself - he doesn't have any separation anxiety at all.
