And inside - why can you confine him to a larger area? My pup stays in the kitchen which is joined to the mud/laundry room. He has the run of quite a large area where he can't get in trouble or do any harm. And, he has everything he needs. Bed, water, food, toys, puppy pad, etc. I also leave the radio and a light on for him. He has always seemed content to stay this way. And, I am sure he sleeps most of the time. More often than not, when I come in, he gets out of his bed - yawning and stretching - but happy to see me.

Good luck!

I would like to put him in the kitchen but he hops the baby gate in a second. He's a jumper. I have tried putting stools both in front and behind the gate to detour him from jumping but that didn't work. We do have a large screened in porch...Hummm, this just...sucks! Thanks everyone for your input and suggestions.
