I'm in the same process of training my dog to walk nice on a leash too. He likes to pull, tug, and walk in front of me. This is bad as he will think he's the pack leader which will cause other issues like asserting his dominance and being aggressive. I watched tons of YouTube videos and all the trainers use the same method. I've been using this method for the past few days and have seen improvement. I've added in sit/down command as well since he already knew how to sit and lay down on command. So I'll walk and occasionally stop and have him sit next to me. Then continue to walk again. It's VERY repetitive but I've been making slow progress.
