That's a one time use, and birds, otters, and other wild animals rapidly produce lots of oils in their skin to replace the natural oils that are washed off by the soap. Plus, the chance of a skin burn is better than drowning in oil. Dawn shouldn't be used regularly to replace shampoo, because it is not pH balanced and designed to be used as shampoo. If it's to wash off fleas, I'd use the dawn at bath time, follow it up immediately with a regular, mild dog shampoo to wash off the dawn and restore pH balance, and then use a mild, soothing conditioner. The coconut oil recommended by another poster is a good idea, providing the vet okays it.
