I'm not sure what would immediately restore the ph balance or moisturize the skin so that he has immediate relief? Have you talked to the vet about what to do apart from Benadryl? Benadryl will obviously work for an allergic reaction, assuming he's had one, but it won't do anything to moisturize the skin so I'd probably get some advice re: that.

In the mean time, maybe someone on here can offer some tips? Don't feel bad... x
Dish soap is indeed harsh. (Sorry, I can't help but suppress a giggle when I think of the advertisement for Palmolive. I can see a Yorkie at the groomer's with its paws in a bowl of green soap, and groomer saying, "Palmolive? You're soaking in it!") Maybe a good, soothing conditioner would help. But asking the vet for advice on something soothing, moisturizing, and pH balanced for the skin is a good idea. As far as Dawn dish soap goes: Yup, use sparingly. It's not like a shampoo that you can use regularly.
