1) The puppy doesn't need FOUR rounds of distemper/parvo -- they need only 2 or 3 (see thread I linked you to)
2) I never get kennel cough for my dogs; it's like vaccinating for the common cold in humans. There are hundreds of kennel cough strains - the kennel cough vaccine covers about 7 of them. Also, young puppies can actually contract kennel cough itself from the vaccine. I would totally avoid this vaccine, if it were me. Some groomers will require you to get the KC vaccine...but your pup shouldn't yet be going to the groomers anyway...too young.
3) Both Lepto and Lymes vaccine are NON-core vaccines and not necessary unless there is an epidemic in your specific area. Lepto can cause severe reactions in dogs, especially smaller breeds.
4) Your pup's rabies is scheduled in conjunction w/ other shots - never do this. Always get the rabies vaccines by itself -- never w/ other vaccines or treatments. If there is a rabies vaccine reaction, you want to know that it's from the rabies...if you get other things done at the same time, there will be no telling where the reaction is coming from.
Hope that helps ! |
Thank you soooooooo much for your expertise! I did not know that, so I will only have him get the distemper combo vaccines. I really appreciate you giving me your input in this! Thank you!
