I was once told to never give a pet to someone as a gift unless you are 100% prepared to have that pet grow up in your house, lol. Well, the same thing happened to me as you. My dad used to go crazy for one of my lil Shih Tzus..he babysat her, would come take her out for the day, lol..just like he did with my human kids. So one year my husband thought, why don't we get your dad his own lil Shih Tzu, so he stops stealing Maggie……we got one for his birthday. He LOVED him (male pup) took him home and 2 days later I was the proud mother of that very same puppy, lol. Oh well, I think I secretly hoped thats how it would work out, haha.
