Heartworm prevention... I hadn't had Daisy tested for this when I got her (bad , I know)
When she had her seizure problem last week and the vet ran tests, she did test her for it, and it came back negative. I didn't think anything of it, and the vet didn't mention starting preventative.
well today a friend of mine came to pick up her daughter from school while I was waiting for my son, and I had Daisy. Her dog (a 75 lb bassett) was in today to get neutered, and they called her and said he had heartworms. She is totally devasted. She didn't know all the info as she had to call the vet back when she got home.
Anyway, she said to make sure to get Daisy on some meds. im glad she pointed it out..dont know why it wasn't in the front of my mind. Evn though she's an inside dog, they stil can get bit by mosquitos.. and with us being at the lake all summer, that could be a problem.
So anyway...I have to pick up meds for her next week. Was happy to hear its only $20 for a 6 month supply..but of course price isn't much of a factor when it comes to preventing a deadly disease!
Anyway..this got alot longer than I wanted. Just be sure if you dont use anything now, think about doing so. And please keep Bruno in your prayers. |
