treats I know - I always check where treats are from and usually he only gets Freshpet (from the fridge case), Blue Buffalo (when on sale!), Orijen, Stella and Chewy's - he is very fussy and will not eat biscuits or hard treats of any kind. Nor is he a chewer which is why his teeth are in such deplorable condition (he has already had several pulled over the years). My friend did give her dog these treats without issue and I do feel better about them but frankly I am surprised he even took it since it was a hard bone-line biscuit wrapped with sweet potato.
I try not to give him human food as they say it's rich for them but I suppose cereal and crackers aren't like ice cream and steak. Of course he wouldn't eat those things unless he saw he eating them. He will not eat dry crackers etc. but if he sees me eating saltines, triscuits, a gold cupcake, light popcorn -then he HAS to have it because I am eating it. So he has eaten tiny pieces of those items.
I just signed up for a dog food/treat recall list to come automatically to my mailbox. It is AMAZING how many are recalled - even premium brands. Very scary. |
