I am not sure why you are concerned about this being her first heat and the puppies living or not because of it. The problem is not the FIRST heat, but her age, her size and the fact that you all appear to be inexperienced in breeding..How far along would she be? Will your vet not do a spay to ensure that she is safe and that she herself survives?
I do not intend to be mean, but an OOPS! in a puppy this young and this size can have dire consequences..Since it seems that she is already full grown, she probably will not be a candidate for breeding and should be spayed to prevent such an accident happening again. Is the sire a Yorkie? Small? Is he gonna be neutered??
Is there an experienced breeder in your town who will consent to mentory'all in this whelping??And, then with the babies? There are many chances for problems from now thru the weaning process of the puppies..The satin balls have helped keep some tinies out of trouble..
