we have a lot of cheap spay & neuter clinics here in la but they mostly deal with a lot of strays, meaning large sized tough dogs. for a fragile yorkie considering they're so tiny i don't know how experience they would really be.
yorkies are known to a hard time going under anesthesia, so since that is an issue i don't think bargain hunting is important when compared to the safety of your pup. a responsible vet will make bloodwork mandatory prior to performing the surgery. when i had my 2 lb chi neutered it was only $45 for the bloodwork & $100 for the surgery itself, so $145 total. not bad at all, considering it was my regular vet that i know & trust, and it came with peace of mind that because they did a blood panel they knew exactly how to put him down and exactly how much he needed, how long he would be under, etc.
good luck whatever you decide. the procedure itself is simple, the anesthesia is the only thing i would worry about with such a little dog. ask the vet if they use gas or if they use injections. my friends puppy died from the injection, then her regular vet told her that was a big no-no. it can be really risky for them. |
