Yes, I think the article mentions a vet check up in quite a few of these. I agree with you that as a dog ages there may be no reason to change the food, also, there is conflicting research about needing less protein as a dog ages, but it something to keep in mind and we may just need to supplement with joint support, and a little more fiber.
