I think it is a good idea to switch off. There have been times when bc of either Dinky's issues or ours that he needed to be crated at night. It's nice that he can do either way without feeling that sleeping in the crate is a punishment.
Actually, I think he sleeps really well in the crate. It's DH who thinks Dinky feels bad if he needs to go in!
