Recently, fearing my pup (3 year old) may have a UTI, I took her to the vet. After testing her urine, her pH level came back at 5. Tested her urine again two weeks later and it is now at 5.5. He informed me the range we want to be in is between 6-7. With fears of calcium oxalate issues and surgery, he thought it was best to change her diet. He wants to put her on Royal Canin. I have always been on the fence with RC, I never know if it's good or not (recalls, ingredients, etc). I have been giving her Fromm (practically) since the beginning. Any info would be extremely helpful. |
There has only been one recall with RC, only one of the Rx formulas, and it was years ago....(and it was precautionary/voluntary, not because anything was found in the food). There are many, many dogs that have used/been put on any of the RC Rx diets for whatever their diagnosis is, and they have been treated very successfully. I can not speak to any of the others (Hill's or Purina) but I know Ladyjane has pups that she feeds a variety of diets, according to the pups needs and diagnosis, and she has had great success with all three of the above mentioned brands). If your pup LIKES the food and eats it, any of these mentioned ones are excellent for your baby.
