For some time on this forum, no one spoke up to say they fed the above foods because so many people had posted what the DFA's beliefs/opinions are and they were intimidated. I was not affected by what they said in terms of my choices. What bothered me is that I would see posts from people where they were advised to feed a prescription diet and they were here apologizing saying things like "I know the ingredients are bad" and asking what else they could do. I made a decision to speak up for the good of the pups that this could affect in a negative way. If a vet suggests a food for a sick pup, I don't think it is doing anyone a service and certainly not helping the pup to say the vet is making money off of the food and that that is the only reason he/she is suggesting it. I have years of experience with these foods and can speak first hand about how they help sick dogs.
I don't feel a need to defend my personal choices regarding anything I do with my pups! I have given much thought to everything I do. As I have said over and over on this forum, I will continue to speak up for these reputable companies....for the good of the pups. People need to know about all types of food in order to make decisions for their pups. |

It bothers me too if/when people come here and say "I'm feeding SD and while I know it's not the best...." -- as if they have to apologize ahead of time for what they're feeding...it's too bad they feel this way. But given the tone of food posts here,
at times, I can see why they may feel uneasy to post about food in general -- again, which is too bad.
It's okay to disagree with what each other are feeding - but if one does disagree, I'd just hope they post that opinion without denigrating the other.

It was only after I got a bad bag of Blue Buffalo with no lifesource bits that I realized that they had bad quality control and I started to open my eyes to the possiblitiy that the DFA *might* be wrong. Thanks for helping to open my eyes. |
Yeah - there are so many dogs here who are so reliant on some of these carefully formulated Rx diets. When a dog has a complicated issue, there are instances where these diets can save/change their lives. Sure, are some of the ingredients "head scratchers" (to us, that is) at times? Yup. But for the right situations, these different ingredients may be exactly what a certain dog needs in order to make it.
