I'm glad you found a good price, but phenobarbital is a heavy drug. I hope you also are using denamarin. I have a dog with epilepsy who takes a newer (although it's really not that new anymore) drug called zonisamide. Some general vets are too afraid to stray from what they know (phenobarbital) but those who do use other drugs like zonisamide or keppra find that they can control seizures just as well without heavy toxicity.

Personally, since I've dealt with this now since Teddy was 2 and he is now 6.5, I am glad he's taken a safer less toxic drug and I like to tell others about this. My general vets (I use a couple here and there) have started prescribing it to other patients after seeing how well Teddy does on it. No side effects, no liver toxicity, no other organ toxicity).
