My last little girl Chanel had a silky coat and virtually no "undercoat" but I bought a brush at Walgreens tha was oval shaped with a little cord you stick your hand through that has short plastic bristles. It looks VERY much like the tangle teaser featured above- but it was only a dollar. I bought it for my little girl because it is very small and I could keep it in y purse for when I took her harness off ( she was always tangled after walks and or wearing an kind of clothing) But My new little girl Roxie has a "Cotton coat" though I have never heard it called that befoe ( learn something new on yorkie talk every day! LOL) and she is very prone to matts right next to her skin. She HATES being brushed but that little flat brush is the only one she will tolerate without freaking out. I have learned to get up feed her and wear her little puppy tail out playing-then I spray her with a doggie detangler I got from target and brush every morning. If I let a few days go ( which I did a time or two because I didn't think a puppys short coat could be so tangled)- she will have painful snarls and I want brushing to be pleasurable for her. I wait until she is sleepy and groggy and ready for her morning nap -then I spray her and pet her to allow the detangler to soak in. Then I gently start brushing her. She seems to accept it better than if I just get her while she is alert and ready to play.
Oh and the detangler smells like baby powder So Sweet!

if y'all are interested I can try to get a picture and post of the brush I am talking about..I have seen them at Walgreens and CVS in little buckets where the travel brushes are, usually right under the regular brush display
