I use the breakaway cat collar with a bell on Dublin just to keep track of where he is in the house.

There are two kinds. Breakaway and slip away. I prefer the breakaway because I worry that the slip away might get tangled. I also got spares because he loses it about once a week or so. They always show up, but in the interim I have something.

BTW - Dublin is a big boy about 12 lbs. Widget is under 5lbs and is so light on her feet that the bell didn't make much noise. That and since Dublin kept ripping it off, I don't bother with her wearing one. She pretty much stays by my side, too, so I don't worry.
