I have had good luck recently with Adequan shots in my older female who has a grade four luxating patella. My vet had me give the shots twice a week for a month and Daisy did very well! These are supplements that your vet can help you with. The cost was about $20 for the month's worth of syringes which they drew up for me. I lifted the skin behind her neck and gave the shots. You can ask your vet for it, I also used it for my male older dog who had a biceps tendon injury and it worked great for him too!
As for CT, my dog is doing pretty well on Temiril P and Hycodan. You can ask your vet about these drugs. We are using a small dose of Temiril P and it's working well.
