I have known more than they do at times, felt pressured into tests or services at times, and even been subjected to disrespectful staff. It's my money, my dogs, and I'll do what I want when I want. It's not a distrust per se, in fact, I give every new vet a blank slate. But they are the ones that fall short and miss the mark. There are good and bad in every profession and sometimes it's the charming seemingly committed vet that is the true charlatan. Like any service or relationship, a critical eye means you are a smart consumer. Pseudoscience is an entirely different matter -- I will take a mediocre vet any day over some of these salespeople.
