I am hoping she doesn't go into heat prior to that. Her mama did not go into heat until she was almost 2 years old. What is the "normal" age for this. I know with bigger dogs they can go into heat around 6 months, but I guess I was thinking the smaller dogs tended to be later.

I am thinking about 8-10 months on her. I do plan to get him fixed as soon as the vet gives the okay. I am hoping about 5 1/2-6 months for him. I absolutely do not want puppies at all and definitely not between the two of them. I would feel so bad if they had puppies since they are siblings. I plan to do everything I can to avoid that and if I thought she might be in heat I would separate them immediately if he was not fixed yet. I will not be lazy about getting him fixed that is for sure.

I only want her to have just a little more time to mature before getting spayed. I had a couple dogs fixed at 6 months and wished I had waited even another couple months.
