Animal Smiley 036 Chicken Allergy?

My Smokie has been itching for a couple of months. I took him to the vet he had red legions on him and tested positive for ringworms. He was prescribed an anti-fungal shampoo to give him a bath 3 times a week. Lather him up and let it sit on him for 15 minutes and then rinse. I did this for a few weeks. I took him for his follow-up two weeks later. I was told when the red spots are gone I can stop using the shampoo. I took him back because he was still itching although most of the red spots are gone. I was then told he has allergies and to continue with the shampoo and give him Benadryl twice a day. I am also putting salmon and coconut oil in his food. I have been doing this for a little over two weeks. He is still itching not as much but sometimes he scratch to the point of leaving red spots. He licks his paws at times also. Not excessive but he does lick them and he drags his face across the carpet at times. I have heard a lot of dogs are allergic to chicken. All of Smokies food has been chicken based since I brought him home. He is 11 months old and I brought him home when he was 3 months old. I am wondering if he is allergic to chicken. I am considering changing his food to salmon based and no grains, wheat, or poultry. Has anyone experienced this with their baby? He doesn't seem to be miserable, but I just want the scratching to stop. All ideas or suggestions are welcomed....
