I would say, based on my experience, that trimming around the eyes is more problematic than not. I have a boy, too, but the groomers are asked to leave his eye hair alone so that he has a nice mustache which falls as part of his beard and is irrespective of his topknot or lack thereof.


They can trim up your boys' mustache and beard and still give him a nice cut on the head so that you don't have to worry about a topknot. When the eye hair grows long, it falls flat against the face which means you don't have to worry about keeping short hairs maintained so that they do not poke his eyes when the hair starts to grow out.
