For the chip, it's an extra level of security, and only costs about $25. The only downside is if your dog is stolen, the vet's won't scan the dog unless the person who brings them in asks for it. There are good samaritans out there, but reality is, is someone stole your pet (and kept it and didn't sell) they wouldn't take the dog to the vet unless really necessary bc they fear of the scan. But most vets don't scan unless you request it! I think it should be required of all vets but they don't want to put their clients on the spot (since they are paying them money).
Even all that said, mine have all been chipped. Make sure the info is always up to date. | I believe she said the vet wanted her to stay the night before.
