I have a somewhat similar problem to yours in that my Yorkie had a big stomach too the first of March and I found out his body was not getting enough nutrients from his food and his liver protein is extremely low. He was put on antibiotics and a diuretic and Denamarin for his liver and a multivitamin. He also has gastroenteritis and kept having diarrhea even with the special food for it so he changed his food and he is now eating Royal Canin Hydrolyzed Protein dry and canned. I take him in Monday to have his blood checked again to see what his liver proteins are now. Hopefully this all will have helped enough so he won't need an ultrasound or biopsy. It was like your problem with the enlarged stomach but different reasons. I am glad the vet took care of the problem for you and the meds will help him. Do you have trouble getting him to take the meds? I sure do even the chewable two he takes every day.
