The YTCA is a great place to start. You can get lots of information from their website. There are breeders listed there from your state.

These are show breeders but they also sell pet puppies or even retired breeders to approved homes. There are also 2 Yorkie Clubs sanctioned by the AKC listed for your state.

If you scroll down on the page the following link goes to you will find several conformation clubs in California.

These clubs have breeder referral contact people. If you go to the club's website you can find the contact person. That info may also be on the page the link goes to if you look for it. They will give you names of breeders that they feel comfortable recommending.

Most show breeders very much welcome pet buyers. They usually price their pet pups at a reasonable price considering that they usually have very good breeding and will come with a good health guarantee. Get references and check out any breeder very well before making any decisions. Always try to check out more than one breeder in order to get a feel for what you are dealing with.

There are so many ugly scams out there put together by very clever people. Small dogs are big business these days and some very disreputable people that make themselves sound so very good are involved in the "industry."

Best wishes on you search. Take your time and don't let anyone rush you. Getting on a waiting list is sometimes a good idea and can lead to a really nice pup. A very good reputable breeder often has people on waiting lists but they are well worth waiting for.
