One time my son (bless him) drew railroad tracks on the carpet while I was in the bathroom (he was 2 at the time -- I learned my lesson about keeping markers out of reach, let me tell you). After my heart attack was over, I used a mixture of Tide, Non-chlorine bleach, and resolve on the carpet (after spot testing the mixture) and got the railroad tracks up. Now I use that mixture for every carpet stain and it has only failed me with orange soda.
