After a dog is 5-7 yrs old or so, many people are electing to no longer get the parvo or distemper vaccines as at that point, they pretty much have lifetime immunity, as evidenced by the DOI studies. |

Yearly vaccines are a total crock after 1 year old. The only ones "needed" yearly (if you so choose to do them) would be the optional non-core lepto, bordatella, etc or else they don't work. But otherwise AAHA protocol is every 3-5 years for distemper/parvo after 1 year old.
Jackson is 6 1/2 and hasn't had distemper/parvo vaccine since he was 1. And fwiw, we go to dog parks, parks, vacations out of the state, etc. I may get him one more this year just kind of for "peace of mind" (I suppose?) since once he's over 7, I likely won't be getting him any more vaccines ever again. Oh we do get rabies every 3 years as per the law. I really wish they would change it to every 5 years though at least.
