This is exactly the way I feel, and I actually love learning new things, but I'm very stubborn about throwing out my old values and ideas, so when I can have an intelligent respectful conversation with someone, even though we have different opinions, they can plant a seed with me and hopefully, I can with them too and so much future insight can come from that. Sometimes true learning comes in our quiet moments, not in the middle of a debate, so those "seeds" can become quite valuable.
