I didn't take it as critical.

It's his hair, he has a double coat or hair and a downy like undercoat. I used a guard 1/4", can't see his skin other than his chest and belly where the hair count is smaller per square inch. This was just his torso cut. Legs came after the photos, with scissors, although I did chop some of his leg hair prior to the photo, that's when we needed a break/walk so it wasn't/isn't done. THAT is very choppy... so I need to figure that out but he really didn't want the clippers on his legs plus the fine hair wouldn't stand up to cut with the clippers when I did try.... it's like a downy hair, super soft to the touch.
And yes, his head and ears will be trimmed back quite a bit when I'm done. Just not as short as his torso. I loved his look as a big fluffy pup and we'll see that again next Fall I think. He really has been getting warm on our walks lately so that prompted an early shot at his hair cut.
