She said most likely surgery. I emailed the breeder tonight, and still waiting on a reply from her. In our contract it says we have a year guarantee against life threatening hereditary conditions and that if one is diagnosed, we can return the puppy for a new one with a written statement by the vet. Or we can keep the puppy and get half our money back.

Now here's my issues. I'm already attached to her. Her name is Harley. I can't help but feel that if I return her the breeder could possibly put her down. The thought just breaks my heart. Now, we could do the surgery if the vet says thats how we should proceed but then the costs come into it. And the tests and any meds we may need.

Anyone else experience this who can offer advice??

I just feel terrible. I tried everything I could and did research to try to prevent from buying from a puppy mill. And I feel guilty, like I have
What a heartbreaking story - I'm so sorry your beloved baby is so ill. And you head over hills in love and worried sick about her future. And now that you know she's so ill, you love her all the more, don't you? You just want to shelter and protect her and make everything better. Have you tried Care Credit, a special credit service for pet and healthcare that charges no interest if you pay w/in a year or something like that? Google it and you can find out if you qualify and what there is about it that so many seem to like when faced with high costs ahead. It's helped many with terrible vet bills facing them after paying out a lot for a new puppy. Still, that $1500.00 quote for surgery you found seems very low for heart surgery so even with medications and travel, it's not the worst, like $7,000.00+ or something.

I know the decision you have to make will be agonizing but go with your heart and with your gut and if they don't agree, go with what seems best for the dog in the long run and her ability to enjoy her life. I'll be praying for little Harley.
