I him a mixture of soft and dry food when i found the eaten pencil, hoping that it might help the wood "pass through".

Oh, you must be so worried! I know I would be.
I would be more concerned about the lead. Why don't you call the closest emergency veterinary hospital and ask? They can tell you what to do or will put your mind at ease.
I'd like to know what they tell you. Please update.
