I free feed, mainly because we use indoor potty systems and my yorkie can eat when he's hungry then eliminate. I put the recommended amount in his bowl everyday and usually there's a bit left over the next day. Having a set feeding schedule(2 times a day) does have it's advantages especially if you train them to use the bathroom outdoors. Since you'll know exactly when they've eaten and take them out 15/30 mins later accordingly. I use the set schedule with our larger breed dog but with the smaller free feed.
