He's just a baby, when I had older dogs and a new puppy my older ones would stay on the sofa, away from baby jaws, when the baby was able to jump on the sofa life as my older ones knew it was over, they worked it out. I let my puppies be puppies, my older girls were very sweet girls, very well socialized with ppl and all animals. Let Mia go to Max on her terms and yes praise like crazy, feed Mia first, if you go out, when you come home, greet Mia first, playing withtoys, give Mia toy first. Mia being a year old should not be a problem with them getting along, all my babies were 3 years apart. Enjoy that crazy little Max, they grow so fast.
