Joan, I have had Bentley and my Boxer get the injected vaccine and have not had any reactions to it with them. If you decide you like the idea of day care for Cody, I would get it at the very least 2 weeks before you take him there. Also, for me if you need to go somewhere quickly, no one to take care of him and he needs to be boarded...he will need to be vaccinated.
It's my take on it and you will need to make your own decision for Cody.
