It's the water that you use for his bath, not just the water he drinks. It depends on your area. Here in NV our regular water is very mineral-y. If we didn't have a soft water tank our shower and all our dishes would have a lot of white spots on them. Does your shower leave white spots on your shower? If yes, you have hard water. The only way to get rid of that is with a whole house water softener. They aren't cheap though.
